Head of (Physical) Product / Product Lead

Hallo!

Premium furniture has made beautiful design unnecessarily expensive, inconvenient and impersonal. We're building the alternative. nydo is an interior brand rooted in Italian-inspired design, starting with sofas and armchairs. Sold direct at a fair price: online, in our showrooms, and through partners like Breuninger. We're live in DACH and soon in Benelux. We're investor-backed to scale hard across Europe.

nydo isn't for everyone, on purpose. That goes for our sofas, and for our team. We hire people who own the outcome, not the task. Who argue with data, not titles. Who care about the cut-out in the frame and still ship at 80%. Who'd rather do the work than review it. And who treat every customer like a guest in their home.

If that's you, keep reading.

Why this role

Today nydo sells sofas and armchairs. Next, everything that shapes a living room. You decide what that looks like. Every product has to read as unmistakably nydo, hit its cost and arrive on time, from a supplier you trust. Most product roles get one or two of those. You get all of them. We want someone with real taste who also hits dates, not someone who only brings one half.

  • You shape the range. From sofas and armchairs into the categories that complete a room.
  • You guard the design language. Not the designer, but the person who makes sure everything we ship reads as nydo.
  • Short line to the top. You work directly with the founders. Ideas become samples in weeks, not quarters.
  • Real ownership. Range, cost, quality, timing: yours, end to end.

Location

Frankfurt or Munich. Hybrid, with regular time at our suppliers and showrooms.

What you'll own

  • The portfolio. The range and where it goes next. What launches, what stays modular, what gets retired.
  • The design language. Evolve it across categories with our designers. You brief, challenge and sign off; they design.
  • Sourcing. Find and onboard suppliers for the accent pieces that complete a room.
  • Cost and margin. Product cost architecture and landed cost across the portfolio, with BD on margin and commercial trade-offs.
  • New product development. Concept to production with clear stage gates: fast, on spec, disciplined.
  • The quality loop. Turn CX, returns and customer feedback into product, design and supplier improvements.

How we'll measure your impact

  • North star: range performance — revenue and contribution margin by product and category.
  • Supporting: landed cost against target (with Ops and BD), time to launch on spec and on cost, return rate and product-related complaints, and new categories launched beyond sofas and armchairs.

Who you are

  • Delivery first. You run concept to production on time, on spec and on budget. Structured, and relentless about dates.
  • Taste. Real design judgement. You hold a premium aesthetic and brief creatives well, without being the designer.
  • Product culture. You come from a strong, design-led consumer brand; think On, Aesop or Dyson. The category matters far less than the culture.
  • Hands-on. Supplier call to spec sheet to showroom-ready sample, yourself. No task is beneath you.
  • Sparring partner. You push back, and ask the sharp question before proposing the answer.
  • Track record over tenure. Usually 4–8 years in product or category management, NPD or bringing physical product to market.
  • Languages. Fluent English. German or Italian a plus.

Nice to haves

  • Category launch. You've launched a new product category from scratch.
  • Home and interiors. Background in home, lifestyle, furniture or interiors, ideally upholstery or soft furnishings.
  • Supplier management. You've managed external suppliers or factories and owned quality control.

What we offer

  • €75–90k gross base + VSOP with 4-year vesting.
  • 30 days paid holiday, 2 home office days per week, and up to 6 weeks a year working remotely from abroad.
  • Professional coaching twice a year, a personal learning budget, and German classes.
  • Gym membership subsidy.
  • A small, international, design-led team, and Thirsty Thursdays.
