Location

This role is Frankfurt, Munich, or Lisbon based.

What you’ll own

As Product Lead, you own what nydo sells: the product range itself, from first concept to production. Today that’s our sofas and armchairs. Your bigger mandate is to take nydo from a sofa brand toward a full living-space brand. You work hand in hand with our designers and our Ops team, and report directly to the founders.

  1. Portfolio development: own the range and where it goes next, from sofas and armchairs into adjacent categories. Decide what launches, what stays modular, and what gets retired.
  2. Design guardianship: protect the five points of the nydo design language, and do the harder work of translating them so they hold up on products that aren’t sofas or armchairs. You’re not the designer but work closely with them and own that everything we ship still reads unmistakably as nydo.
  3. Sourcing the range: source the accent pieces that complete a room.
  4. Cost & Margin: own the bill of materials and landed cost across the range. Margin is set jointly with the BD lead; you bring the cost truth, BD brings the commercial picture.
  5. Process & NPD: run concept → prototype → sample → production with real stage gates. The brief is quality and speed, not a trade-off between them; strong product, out the door fast.
  6. Quality loop: work with CX on what returns and customer feedback are telling us, and close the loop back into design and supplier QC.

KPIs you’ll own

You will be critical for the company to make the right decisions for our most important KPIs, like 

  • Range performance: revenue and contribution margin by product and category
  • Product cost: bill of materials and landed cost, with cost-down targets (with Ops and BD)
  • Time to launch: speed from concept to market — on time, on spec, on cost
  • Product quality: return rate and product-related complaints, and how fast we resolve them
  • Range expansion: successful launch of new categories beyond sofas and armchairs

Who you are

  • Project manager first: you run concept-to-production on time, on spec and on budget; structured, organized, and relentless about hitting dates.
  • An eye for style and design: genuine taste and design judgement, even though you’re not the designer. You can hold a premium aesthetic and brief creatives well.
  • Product-led pedigree: you’ve worked in strong, product-led, design-driven consumer brands; think Westwing, On, Aesop, Dyson, or alike. The category matters far less than the product culture you come from.
  • Hands-on execution: you happily go from supplier call to spec sheet to showroom-ready sample yourself, no task is below you.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: you build from 0 to 1, own outcomes, and act as a founder sparring partner; you push back and ask the sharp question before proposing the answer.
  • Experience: 4–8 years in product or category management, NPD, or a comparable role bringing physical product to market.
  • Languages: fluent in English

Nice to haves

  • You’ve launched a new product category from scratch
  • Background in home, lifestyle, furniture or interiors
  • Experience managing external suppliers or factories and owning quality control
  • Familiarity with upholstery, materials or soft furnishings
  • You’ve taken a product all the way from sketch to shelf
