About the fabrics
Martindale (Abrasion resistance)
Martindale (Abrasion resistance)
The Martindale value indicates how hard-wearing a fabric is in everyday use. It shows how many rub cycles a fabric can withstand. The higher the value, the more durable and robust it remains, even with daily use.
For heavy use, values over 20,000 rub cycles are recommended; for normal everyday use, 10,000 is perfectly sufficient. Our fabrics achieve values from 25,000 up to 100,000 and are therefore ideally suited for long-term use.
Pilling
Pilling
Pilling refers to the small fiber balls that form on the surface of a fabric due to friction.
The risk of pilling is rated on a scale of 1 to 5: 1 stands for severe pilling, 5 for a smooth surface without pilling. The higher the number, the smoother the surface remains and the longer your sofa looks like new.
Our fabrics always score at least 4.
Lightfastness
Lightfastness
Lightfastness measures how well a fabric retains its color when exposed to sunlight.
The ability of a cover to withstand solar radiation is rated on a scale: the higher the value, the more resistant the color remains. The scale ranges from 1 to 8, with 1 indicating poor lightfastness.
Even if our fabrics have good lightfastness, it is still advisable to avoid placing furniture permanently in direct sunlight as much as possible to prevent fading.
